I've started my experiment. I shredded some yellow Virginia leaves. I washed a pickle jar and half-filled it with warm water. I crushed two tablets to dust and brushed the dust into the water, then I shook it up. I fed the shredded Virginia into the jar, making sure that the Virginia was fully immersed. Then I put the lid on and put the jar on top of the hot water cylinder. Although the cylinder is insulated, there is a small gap on the tip where the insulation comes together. That gap leaks a fair amount of heat. I can't see any reason that the mixture inside the jar should not be warm enough for the enzymes to work. I'll keep you posted. I see from LI's site that you were not impressed!
Junican, thanks for keeping me updated :) I am looking into finding a way of keeping the tobacco at a constant 45C and then I will try again. The Slo-Cooker got so hot that it cracked!

Well, I'm glad you went first! I have bookmarked Leggy's post and am observing how others get on before attempting it :)
Look on the bright side - the leaves are so cheap in comparison you can afford to try again!
What weight/quantity of leaves did you put in the cooker?
Timbo, I used about 1/2 lb of deribbed leaves...the cooker pot was just under
level full.
